hoping to inspire...

happy saturday! i would like to be at home snuggled under the blankets on this chilly spring morning...but as it is i'm at work. meh. yet it is one of my favorite parts of my role at work to teach incoming/potential foster parents all about what to expect in foster care, how to handle the children's unique needs & challenges, and hopefully inspire them to continue forward to certification with our agency and commit to a child in need.

i used to abhor public speaking...as an introvert and someone who's relatively shy it does seem a bit out of whack that i enjoy it so much when i think about it. for some reason, standing in front of a group of adults who sit there for various reasons learning about foster care...i find that the stories, the information, the years of experience with foster youth just flows & before i know it, these 6 hours are over.

today's group is a good one...with several potentially strong families. that also energizes me. to see people so altruistic & willing to open their home to a child who needs them, makes me feel like all of the mountains of paperwork, the bureaucracy, the office politics, the painful stories, etc, are all worth it in the end. if we can, together, help even one child at a time, we're doing something right.

wishing you all a beautiful weekend! hoping to get back to regularly scheduled creative posts soon...i've got a mini-workshop planned as well as more journals to put in the shop...among other things. stay tuned & thanks for stopping by.

Hi Heidi. I am a regular reader of your blog but rarely comment...however I just wanted to say that I admire what you do and am thankful that God put people like you on the earth to help others. Bless you and the others you work with.

at least, if you have to be up and working on a saturday morning, it is a meaningful activity. :-) i don't mind speaking in front of kids but i still don't like to present to a group of adults!
